We Created a Spectacle! Part 2 / 17 September 2012

The following day we realised it had captured the imagination of people all over the world as Sue was inundated with requests for interviews. Gillian Taylor and Claire Bromley of Arts Council South West did a sterling job of co-ordinating the media interest whilst allowing Sue the important time to prepare for the second and final performance. The Friday performance was much smoother and I was able to watch from in the water. The lighting was truly stunning.

No rest for the wicked and at 6am the following morning we were up for more interviews including the BBC world service then straight up to London for the Unlimited Festival at the Southbank Centre. Despite feeling like a zombie it was wonderful to see a version of the 360 film installed at the back of the Clore Ballroom amongst the other 28 Unlimited commissions represented. It was Liberty Festival as well and Sue was able to see Bill Shannon perform live. He has been a huge influence on her work.

The press coverage of 'Creating the Spectacle!' has been widespread and we even got the call to go the Olympic park for a press conference with Ruth Mackenzie. We've had so many responses to the project we now need to stand back and reflect on the achievements and for Sue to decide where to take the work next. It's been hard work, extremely tiring but ultimately an utterly amazing project to be part of. I look forward to seeing where it heads next.
